Books Critical of Religion

Monday, February 12, 2007

This is an ongoing collection of suggested readings. Some of the books focus on the skeptical reading of religious texts, while others focus on exposure of lies and untruths that many religions are founded on or those they promote. Many of these books make for a good read, but as usual they should all be read just as skeptically as the books they criticize. The works are sorted by author.

Richard Dawkins
The God Delusion
A Devil's Chaplain: Reflections on Hope, Lies, Science, and Love
God, the Devil, and Darwin: A Critique of Intelligent Design Theory
Everything You Know About God Is Wrong: The Disinformation Guide to Religion

Daniel Dennett
Breaking the Spell: Religion as a Natural Phenomenon

Sam Harris
Letter to a Christian Nation
The End of Faith: Religion, Terror, and the Future of Reason

Thomas Paine
The Age Of Reason

Carl Sagan
The Demon-Haunted World: Science as a Candle in the Dark
